Why convert images to JPG?
JPG is the one image format every phone, computer, printer, email client and upload form accepts. Converting to JPG fixes “unsupported file type” errors and usually makes files much smaller than PNG or BMP.
JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC (iPhone), GIF, BMP and AVIF are all accepted as input. Animated GIFs use their first frame.
JPG (also called JPEG) is the most widely used photo format. It uses lossy compression to keep files small and works everywhere, but it does not support transparency and loses a little quality every time it is re-saved.

JPG vs JPEG — is there a difference?
No. JPG and JPEG are the same format; the shorter .jpg extension comes from older versions of Windows that only allowed three-letter extensions. Any app that opens one opens the other.

Do I need to download a program to convert images to JPG?
No. This converter runs in your web browser on Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android and Chromebook, so there is nothing to download or install. Your converted JPGs are saved straight to your device.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white by default. You can pick any other color.
Is this image to JPG tool free?
Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks and no limits on the number of images.
