Why make a GIF?
GIFs play automatically and loop in every chat app, email client, forum and website, without a play button. They are perfect for showing product angles, before-and-after comparisons, step-by-step tutorials, memes and simple slideshows.
JPG (also called JPEG) is the most widely used photo format. It uses lossy compression to keep files small and works everywhere, but it does not support transparency and loses a little quality every time it is re-saved.
PNG is a lossless format that keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparent backgrounds. It is ideal for logos, icons, screenshots and graphics, but photos saved as PNG are often very large.
GIF is the classic format for short animations. It plays automatically and loops everywhere — in chats, emails, forums and websites — but it is limited to 256 colors per frame.

Frequently asked questions
How many images can I put in one GIF?
As many as you like. Keep in mind that more frames and a bigger width make a larger file; 480–720 px wide is a good size for sharing.
Why do GIF colors look slightly different?
GIF supports a maximum of 256 colors per frame, so photos with smooth gradients may show slight banding. Graphics and screenshots look nearly identical.
Is this image to GIF tool free?
Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks and no limits on the number of images.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Your images are processed entirely inside your browser, so they never leave your device. That makes it private and very fast, even for large files.
Can I convert many images at once?
Yes. Drop or select as many images as you like. Each one is processed in turn, and you can download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.
Does it work on iPhone, Android and Mac?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Nothing needs to be installed.
