When to rotate an image
Phone photos and scans often come out sideways or upside down, and handheld shots can have a slightly tilted horizon. Rotating fixes the orientation so the picture displays correctly everywhere.
JPG (also called JPEG) is the most widely used photo format. It uses lossy compression to keep files small and works everywhere, but it does not support transparency and loses a little quality every time it is re-saved.
PNG is a lossless format that keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparent backgrounds. It is ideal for logos, icons, screenshots and graphics, but photos saved as PNG are often very large.
WebP is a modern image format created by Google. It supports both lossy and lossless compression plus transparency, and typically produces files 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality. All modern browsers support it.

Frequently asked questions
Does rotating reduce image quality?
Rotating by 90°, 180° or 270° keeps every pixel. Other angles need slight resampling, which is barely visible. Choose PNG output for a lossless file.
What fills the corners when I rotate by a custom angle?
The canvas grows to fit the rotated photo. Corners can be transparent (PNG/WEBP) or filled with any color.
Is this rotate image tool free?
Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks and no limits on the number of images.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Your images are processed entirely inside your browser, so they never leave your device. That makes it private and very fast, even for large files.
