How does sharpening work?
Sharpening (unsharp masking) boosts the contrast along edges, which makes details look crisper. It works best on photos that are slightly soft — from a phone camera, a resize or compression. It can’t recover detail from a badly out-of-focus or motion-blurred picture.
JPG (also called JPEG) is the most widely used photo format. It uses lossy compression to keep files small and works everywhere, but it does not support transparency and loses a little quality every time it is re-saved.
PNG is a lossless format that keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparent backgrounds. It is ideal for logos, icons, screenshots and graphics, but photos saved as PNG are often very large.
WebP is a modern image format created by Google. It supports both lossy and lossless compression plus transparency, and typically produces files 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality. All modern browsers support it.

Frequently asked questions
Can this fix a very blurry photo?
Sharpening improves softness and mild blur, but no tool can fully recover detail that was never captured. For best results, start with the sharpest original you have.
What settings should I use?
Start with strength 60 and radius 2. Use a lower radius for fine detail like hair and text, and a higher one for larger, softer images.
Is this sharpen image tool free?
Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks and no limits on the number of images.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Your images are processed entirely inside your browser, so they never leave your device. That makes it private and very fast, even for large files.
