How does the photo-to-sketch effect work?
The tool recreates the classic “pencil sketch” technique: it converts the photo to grayscale, blurs an inverted copy, then blends the two with a color dodge so only edges and shading remain. The result looks like a hand-drawn graphite drawing — great for gifts, coloring pages, tattoos and art references.
JPG (also called JPEG) is the most widely used photo format. It uses lossy compression to keep files small and works everywhere, but it does not support transparency and loses a little quality every time it is re-saved.
PNG is a lossless format that keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparent backgrounds. It is ideal for logos, icons, screenshots and graphics, but photos saved as PNG are often very large.
WebP is a modern image format created by Google. It supports both lossy and lossless compression plus transparency, and typically produces files 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality. All modern browsers support it.
